There are moments in life when an award becomes much more than a trophy. It becomes a reminder of the path you've travelled, the people who believed in you, and the place that embraced your dreams.

As I stood on the stage , receiving the Vaidyaratnashree Award on the occasion of National Doctor's Day, my mind travelled back many years—to the day I chose to build my future in Karnataka.

Coming from Kerala, I often wondered whether I would truly be accepted in a different state. Could I build an Ayurvedic brand here? Would people trust someone who wasn't born into this land? Would my work ever become a part of this community?

Those questions stayed with me in the early days of Nilgiri Aromas.

Today, as I look back, I realise that Karnataka answered every one of those questions—not with words, but with love.

One of the most touching moments of the ceremony was experiencing Karnataka's beautiful tradition of honouring its guests. As I was draped in a ceremonial shawl, adorned with a garland, presented with a bouquet, a citation, and the iconic Mysore Peta, I felt a profound sense of respect and belonging. In Karnataka, these are not merely ceremonial gestures—they are timeless symbols of honour, gratitude, and recognition. Having come to this state years ago with hopes of building a dream, being welcomed in this manner was deeply emotional. It was a moment that made me feel not like an outsider receiving an award, but like a daughter being embraced by a family. 

Receiving the Vaidyaratnashree Award was, therefore, far more emotional than I had imagined. It was not simply recognition for my work; it felt like acceptance from the society that gave my dreams a home.

The ceremony, organised by Anveshana Seva Trust, Mysuru, brought together distinguished doctors and eminent personalities from different walks of life to celebrate service in healthcare. Sharing the stage with doctors who have devoted their lives to healing was both humbling and inspiring.

The award ceremony was made even more memorable by the presence of several distinguished personalities from the medical fraternity. I had the privilege of sharing this special occasion with Dr. B. Dinesh, Director of Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research, Bengaluru; Dr. Mohan Gopala Raje Urs, Rajyotsava Awardee; Dr. K. S. Sadananda, Medical Superintendent, Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research, Mysuru; Dr. C. P. Madhu, Director, JSS Hospital, Mysuru; along with many other eminent doctors and healthcare leaders. Their inspiring words and lifelong commitment to medicine made this recognition even more meaningful, reminding me that true success lies in serving society with dedication, compassion, and integrity.

Listening to the speakers reaffirmed something I have always believed—that medicine is not just about curing illnesses. It is about compassion, responsibility, and the quiet commitment to improve lives every single day.

Another unforgettable part of this journey was the overwhelming media appreciation. The event was featured across several Kannada and English newspapers. Seeing Nilgiri Aromas  reflected in so many publications was deeply touching because it represented years of perseverance that often went unseen.

Behind every newspaper headline lies a story that no one reads.

The countless hours spent.

The experiments that failed before they succeeded.

The sleepless nights.

The difficult decisions.

The uncertainty of starting from scratch.

The determination to uphold the authenticity of Ayurveda without compromising quality.

Every challenge suddenly felt worthwhile.

As I held the award in my hands, I wasn't thinking about success. I was thinking about gratitude.

Gratitude towards my teachers who shaped my foundation.

Gratitude towards my family who stood beside me.

Gratitude towards my incredible team at Nilgiri Aromas.

Most importantly, gratitude towards every customer who trusted our products and became a part of our journey.

This award belongs to each one of you.

It also belongs to Karnataka—a land that embraced me, encouraged me, and gave wings to my aspirations. I came here with dreams and uncertainties. Today, I stand here with confidence, purpose, and a heart full of gratitude.

No journey is ever walked alone, and mine certainly wasn't. Behind every milestone of Nilgiri Aromas stands my husband whose unwavering belief, quiet strength, and constant encouragement have been the foundation of everything we have built together. He has been the pillar of Nilgiri Aromas, standing beside me through every challenge, celebrating every success, and inspiring me to keep moving forward.

My children have also been an inseparable part of this journey. From sharing creative ideas for product labels and branding to offering fresh perspectives that shaped the identity of Nilgiri Aromas, they have contributed far beyond their years. Their creativity, curiosity, and enthusiasm have found a place in almost every product we have created. Watching them grow alongside the brand has been one of the greatest blessings of my life. Every achievement I receive is as much theirs as it is mine, because Nilgiri Aromas is not just my dream—it is our family's shared journey, built with love, dedication, and countless moments of working together.

The Vaidyaratnashree Award is not the end of my journey. It is a gentle reminder that there are many more lives to touch, many more products to create with integrity, and many more ways to honour the timeless science of Ayurveda.
