Manjishtha (Rubica cordifolia) is commonly known as common madder or Indian madder. Manjishta has been used from early ages as a home remedy for skin lightening, internally it is a good blood purifier and aids in skin problems. It cools and detoxifies blood and dissolves obstructions in the blood flow.

So this herb can be used both internally and externally to improve skin complexion. It helps to remove pimples, freckles, other discolorations, and promotes the healing of skin tissues damaged by injury or infection. It relieves itching in eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis.

The ancient Indian sage and physician Charaka has mentioned manjishta as a “rejuvenative herb” considering its potent detoxifying effects.
